Hello,

I have a 400gb ext WD hard drive for back ups which has worked flawlessly for over a year. As of late (about a month) the drive keeps disappearing from the "my computer" list and therefore does not do the backups. Nothing has changed in my settings, it gets a bit frustrating having to unplug and plug the drive in just to see it.

Thanks

Hello,

This sound like a cable issue, try to change it and see if the problem still exist.

Ok, let me know anyway!

Tried the cable, no luck. Starting to think the drive is simply failing. If I leave it alone it stays on the "my computer". If I try to access it, the drive either disappears, or the icon changes to local disk with no files.

Is the drive available on Device Manager?

At this second in device manager the drive is present. However, under volume where the information populates, the information indicates 0 capacity. Troubleshoot is of no assistance. In the "my computer" the drive shows as local disk F\ instead of F:\Elements also with 0 volume

Appreciate the effort and assistance
