Compaq Presario CQ61 no bootable deviceSolved/Closed

Hello,  

When I load my Compaq Presario CQ61-422SA Notebook PC up, the screen is blank for a while, then it says " no bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key" so I used a win xp disc to try to fix the problem, but an error message came up, my laptop is windows 7 so I probably shouldnt of done that, but it didnt change what my laptop says when I boot it up, NO BOOTABLE DEVICE, I do not have any recovery discs and I dont know what to do, I think the problem was caused because of overheating but im not sure.  

Somebody help please.

All Compaqs have a recovery partition "D".

Reboot your machine and press F11 at the same time, follow the instructions.

thanks but I tryed that, and my laptop just beeped constantly, then it just came up with the same thing," No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key", what is a boot disk? just a win 7 disc? please help again someone

Please describe the beeps

Are they long constant beeps?

One long 9 short ?

Beep pause, beep pause, beep pause...

etc.

erm there like, beep pause, beep pause, like half a second intervals between the beeps

Hello Harro,

The beep code you mention indicates that the problem is linked to the CPU in other words it's a harware problem that only a qualified technician can attend to. (Harddrive, motherboard, circuits, etc)
