No sound on internet?

I suddenly lost sound on all internet sites including youtube...tried all sorts, nothing worked...Found this advice from Allie on this forum dated Feb 2009...I'm a techno thicko but followed the simple instructions...BRILLIANT it worked a treat!
And so this question has an answer I just had to share again on here...Thank you thank you Allie you are a STAR whoever you are...!


Copy this text into notepad (starting with Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00) and save it to your desktop using the name "missing.reg":

After saving the file, go to START > RUN > and type 'regedit' and then click OK
In the registry, select FILE > IMPORT and select the "missing.reg" file from your desktop
You should get a confirmation that it was imported successfully.

This is an instant fix ... your speakers should now work for web sounds, no reboot required.

you know technical issues with the computer usually take a while and a lot of efforts to get solved but actually THIS solution worked like a miracle! fast and effective!

it didnt work for me. my speakers are working because I can ehar the "ping" confirmation sound when i complete the import, and I can listen to music on Windows media player but when I got online nothing works

mine is the same as your problem but happend after i install the new java update

I tried eveything to get my sound back!! Finally reinstalled my audio CD that came with my computer!!!! Yeah!!! Sound is BACK!!! No reason is stopped working but I'm glad it's fixed!!! I hope this helps someone!!!!
