Space bar goes nuts and types " + + + + + + +

Hello,
no matter what i do, the space bar on my wired apple keyboard (on my iMac) types "+ + + + + + + + + +". the keyboard is therefore useless.
the keyboard works on my laptop windows PC without any problems, and another PC-keybord works on my Imac without any problems.

Any idea on what to do?
