Hello,

I haven't found an answer to my dilemma in any of the forums so far. Each time I try to download either the installer or the workaround metafile for Adobe Flash Player, Firefox seems to download 99% of these files (the installer is 198K, the whole file is 15.7M), then gets stalled and cannot complete. I'm on Windows XP 32-bit.

My connection is fine. I recently got help cleaning my disk then re-installing software so am wondering if there is some sort of registry issue that is possible? I have the same problem with Adobe Reader. Downloads from other sites seem to work fine though, so my suspicion is something between my computer configuration and something the Adobe site wants/checks.

Any ideas?

Thanks!
Paul

Hi Paul,

As you mentioned suspect is that the issue is with Adobe site, try downloading the application from the below mentioned links:

https://ccm.net/downloads/internet/4613-adobe-flash-player/
https://ccm.net/downloads/professional/4897-adobe-acrobat-reader-dc/

Try installing these files and check if the problem duplicates.

Do reply with results.

Oops - that's the Active X version for Flash, good for IE but not a plug-in for Firefox, so can't use the Flash link it turns out. I looked around the site but could only find something resembling the plug-in version in French - will test that now (am fluent in French so don't mind either En or Fr...).

The installer for Reader did the same as on the Adobe site unfortunately - it got to 99% then just stopped. Not sure what's preventing it from completing...

Thanks very much for your efforts to help!
Paul

Hi Paul,

Try downloading the plugin's ".exe" file from here:

http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/win/install_flash_player_10_plugin.exe

This is an older version of flash player, sometimes downgrading helps. Later you can update the plugin.

Before you install this plugin please remove traces of any existing one using the below mentioned uninstaller package:

http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/support/uninstall_flash_player.exe

For Adobe Reader, try installing it in Safe Mode and see. There is a possibility some background services might be preventing it from installing.
