I have Acer Aspire 5520 Laptop from 2008 with the following problems

When I switch the power on the laptop first time it shuts down after 3 seconds and then it would power up and repeat the shut down after 3 seconds again again and so on.

I can sometimes get the power back when I can I try installing Windows xp but the screen freezes half way installing windows.

Hello,

Try this 1

It seems like laptop is getting restarted not switching itself off and one of the

reason is because of bad RAM.

Remove the RAM from the slot, clean it and place it back properly or try

another slot. If you are having two RAMs then remove it, place only one RAM and

check if you are able to start your laptop without any issue. If the problem still

exists then try the above procedure with the other RAM.

Good Luck

Hello,
RAM is nothing but your memory. You will find in the memory slots.
Click on the below hyperlink "RAM" to see how it looks like.

You need to be careful while removing and placing it back.
