USB 1.1 CONVERTER TO USB 2.0

Hello,

I have an old laptop with a USB 1.1 port. I would like to convert it to 2.0 so I could make most of my external drives that uses USB 2.0, esp. my HDD player. I've researched and found out that there are cardbus adapters but my laptop has only 1 PCMCIA slot, which I am using for my wireless card. Is there any other way I can convert my USB 1.1 to 2.0 aside from a cardbus adapter?

I would very much appreciate whatever help you can extend.
