Server Computer

Dear All,
I am a new with Server, i plan to hook up Server at my home and i don't know at all about this.

I just bought a used HP Prolaint D380 G5 and everything with this server woring fine.
I am learning with my friend through Internet about this. I got understanding more than the past.

My friend told me that, If i want to installed Windows Server 2012 R2 or others Server OS, I need to download HP smart start to configure Raid in BIOS.

I would like to know more about other Server Brand as Dell, IBM, etc...
With HP server, We have Disk media name Smart Start, how about Dell, IBM
What do we call that ?

With your experiences regarding Server, What should i know more about Servers?
