Startup repair? Corrupt registry

Ok I only had a black screen and a movable cursor. Couldn't get windows to load at all. Hard shutdown. Started again pressed F2- I got message that needed startup repair. I ran the startup repair and says cannot repair this computer automatically. When I open problem details box it says I have a corrupt registry?? What do I do now?

Do you have a recovery disk?
It may of come with the laptop on a cd or dvd?
