iphone 4s ios 8.1.3 update after sound issueClosed

Question

since updating to 8.1.3 yesterday I have noticed that my phone no longer uses ringtones or message alert tones, it just vibrates only.  I need the sound to work, I know they do work as they play when exploring new tones however, they will not work when receiving calls or text.  Phone was fine before update, any suggestions out there?

Hello.

look at the switch on the side of the device.

is it set to Vibrate or Normal?

can you see some orange colour, or not?

Hold the home button and lock button until your iPhone turns off.

keep it held down whilst it turns back on and you see the apple logo appear for the first time.

whilst still holding it down, the apple logo will appear for the second time. when it does, release the buttons and let it start up.
