Can't open a PDF from email

Hello,

I am currently running Windows 8.1
I have Microsoft Office loaded on my laptop
I have also purchased and have installed Adobe Acrobat Pro XI

I can open the Adobe app & create, merge and open pdf files.
I can open PDF files from my desktop or through File Explorer.

I CANNOT open a PDF from an email unless I save to the desktop or open the Adobe app first.
Very frustrating!!! Please help.
