Hello, I recently tried to reformat my home computer using windows xp professional. Once I got through most of the setup and was prompted to enter my product key i realized i had lost it. I bought i copy of windows xp home edition service pack 3 so that i would now have a copy i could provide a product key for when prompted. My problem is that my computer is stuck in the original setup for the professional edition and keeps telling me that there is a setup error when i try to boot from the home edition cd. Any help would be greatly apprectiated.

hi,
try to put your hard disk as slave in another computer and format it.
then put it in your computer to install windows on it.
this should work.
