Hi, Initially connected a 1 TV hard drive,recognised by computer but said had errors,tried to clear with windows but not possible. Could an instal of Ubuntu be the answer, if so, how do I do this, I am new to this and this my first question/problem Thanks Dave

I would never try to use any disk that Windows had flagged with errors. You can never trust the disk after that point.

I suggest you buy a new one.
