Windows explorer has stopped working

Hello, I tried all the solutions I found online to fix this problem:

When windows start there were no icons an the message "Windows explorer has stopped working" with no options.

I just copy the explorer.exe from another machine running the same operative system (vista) located on c:/windows/explorer.exe. And copied to the afected machine via "browse" on the task manager that was the only thing working at the moment. After that I just execute explorer.exe and the desktop was alive again.

I share this solution with you because I really tried all the solutions I found online and nothing worked for me but this idea that came to my mind after hours of work. I hope this can help you.
