Help hooking my PS3 up to computer?

Hello, I would like to hook my PS3 up to my laptop so I can use it as a screen to play games on. I should preface this by saying that my laptop DOES have hdmi input. Okay so, I've connected the PS3 power cable to an outlet and connected the hdmi cable from my PS3 to my laptop. What do I do now? I've tried turning my computer on while the PS3 is on and when it's not on and nothing has happened, only my regullar desktop would still come up. How do I get the PS3 to show on my computer?
