Headphone Jack Problem On HP Laptop

Hello,

I'm noticing my headphones have recently started to not work on my HP Pavilion Laptop. The laptop uses Windows 10, pre-installed.
Anyhow, at first, the earphones would work, but then they'd automatically disconnect. I'd seen this before from older earphones, but they had specific problems with their wires.
These earphones, on the other hand, are brand new (they are Apple Earpods, if that helps). I've tried a few different spare earphones and headphones with no luck.
Best case scenario, they will connect for a little while, and then will disconnect on their own. After a few minutes of plugging and unplugging, and blowing into the headphone jack, it would connect again.
Sometimes, nothing will happen at all.
It's inconsistent.

EDIT: If I jam them in/apply force, then usually it's a stable connection.

What should I do to fix this? What can be done?

Thanks!

There could be some dirt on the connectors.

turn off the laptop, remove ALL power sources.

use a cocktail stick and try and clean/scrape the best you can in the jack.

if you have managed to damage the jack then i recommend purchasing a USB sound card which will give you audio.
