Windows XP Dns Probe Finished Website Unavailable

Hello, Im running windows XP on an old gateway. One day the internet was all good & the next, nothing. The funny thing is, is that google chrome loads up, like its going to work & then if you type anything else in after that it just comes up "website not available dns probe finished" with the pixel dinosaur. Ive literally tried everything research affer long hours of research. still & when i try a system restore, it says it cant complete with the big ol red X, after it LOOKS like its been completed successfully... IDK what to do should i just trash the computer ??
