Blocked on messenger. Messages change from seen to sent? Why?

My ex blocked me on Facebook. We're still on speaking terms and trying to work things out. What I don't get is when I go into his conversation on messenger, sometimes it shows the face icon meaning it's been "seen" and then other times the messages are just showing as "sent"

I was just wondering if he is blocking me and unblocking me again on messenger? Or is it a glitch? It's not happening with anyone else's chat?

That might mean you're also blocked on Facebook. Are you blocked from everyone? Of not check your settings. It happened to me & it was cause the person accidentally blocked me. Good luck

I know I'm definitely blocked on Facebook but the chat in messenger keeps showing as seen and then sent and back again. It's strange.
