iPod Classic won't sync or restore in iTunesClosed

Question

Hello, 

I've been using an iPod classic for the past 3 years and it just suddenly stopped working correctly. Now when I try to connect it to iTunes, it doesn't sync with my library. I get the error message : "The iPod must be restored before synching is possible, however when I try to restore it is says "Cannot restore because the iPod is busy". What should I do ?? 

Configuration: Mac OS X (10.11.6) / Safari 9.1.2

If you can, take it to an apple store and pay the genius!   You do  understand products have life cycles, and Apple may not want you to have it for three years!  Ah isn't it great?

Had the same problem, I reformatted my ipod through my computer and then connected to ipod where it restored it to factory settings, and then it would resync after. I had a lot of music in my iTunes library so it took a while.
