Hello Cornex,

You have given too little information so I find nearly impossible to determine where the problem is. Can you feel the drive spinning or it's completely silent? The drive is not seen in My Computer or it's not detected by the BIOS also? Please, check if the BIOS can detect the drive at a physical level.
Has anything happened prior to stop recognizing the drive, I mean was the drive unplugged while data transferring or something? I also would like to know if you have tried connecting the drive to several PCs with a different USB cable.
Please, come back to the topic to provide more details regarding the situation and give information regarding the configuration that you have. If you have performed some troubleshooting steps already, please mention them too.

Have a nice weekend.

Hello samflynn21,

In order to gain better visibility for your issue, my advice is to start a new topic within the forum if you haven't started yet.
Regarding your question – what I have in mind when I say to be physically recognized the drive is that when you start your laptop, you could press the respective F key to enter the BIOS menu and under the Boot menu you can check if under the Removable devices menu the drive is detected while connected to the USB port. Have you tried with another cable?

Cheers.

There are many reasons of hard drive not showing on PC. Check for cable connections first. Try using different USB cable it could be one of the possible reasons.
If this seems fine then unplug your hard drive from the PC and trying connecting it on another one and check whether it works fine there or not. If data is important take backup if it shows on another PC.
