Microsoft Fix It

Hello,
Windows Vista with Firefox browser:
Problem started by trying tio use Toshiba usb 3.0 & 2.0 500Gig.
This external drive functions on my (very) old Toshiba laptop, but on my PC (updated Vista) I cannot get a station letter.
In a (dutch) forum they recommend to download Microsoft Fix it. After download and beginning with the installation, I get following comments:
"Unable to download troubleshooters.Please check your Internet connection"
My internet connection is functioning,and ther is much room on my harddisk available.
What can i do more, please?

Perhaps you need the latest Microsoft solution "Microsoft easy fix" since Fix It was discontinued.
