My acer turns on an freezes on the wallpaper the cursor works but I can't get anything by , con/alt/del or f8. Any help would be appreciated.

Try this

1. Remove the battery and cable.

2. Press and hold the power button for 58 seconds.

3. Replug and start.

There is no visible means of accessing the battery but I have held the power button (again) and it seems to be working fine this morning.
