Hello all,

I am using a Sandisk 64 Gb class 10 Micro sd card and since morning, it has stopped writing data but I can read all my previous data just fine. I cant write any data through my phone or through my pc but I can see my card as a portable media device. Also I am not able to do chkdsk on my card through my pc because it is not being assigned a letter bas it is being detected as a portable storage device. When I try to insert my card solely with a card reader it asks for formatting.

I am using a Lenovo k4 note and the card is being used as internal storage on marshmallow which as you know encrypts data stored on a micro sd card as an internal storage.

As a precaution I have taken a backup of my SD card but I would like to restore it to its normal function. I don't want to format it. What should I do.

Hello seegwerty,

I have to tell you that in this situation, when a micro SC card has problems to be read and written onto, it means that you have to make a full erase on it and start clean. It's a good thing that you have a backup of your information on another place so you can easily recover.
I think, you should try to format and paste back the data from the backup location. Tell me what happened afterwards.

Cheers.

Thank you KY_WD for your response. I am a bit worried about my cards reliability as well so lets see. But I would like to use this card for a few weeks more since I am traveling.

My advice is to grab another card just in case, to make sure that you have a space where to store your pic to.

Good luck!
