I followed the instructions up to, trying to find the key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies

As this does not exist in my Registry, what do I do now?

Well, that is really a question for the person who's instruction you are following! When you are messing with the registry, it is best to really understand what you are doing, so you don't have to ask how to recover your BRICK!
