Getting screen from laptop in TV-monitor But No sound

Hello,
i have connected my lenevo laptop to samsung tv+monitor via hdmi-vga converter,but i did not get any sound from my monitor.I saw that there is notification that samsung sound is connected ,but no sound is here on tv+monitor.
What should i do?
another problem is ,i get screen from laptop to Monitor in windows.but in linux, the screen is not moving ..in that case ,what should i do?

a VGA cable/conection does not transmit sound. So you can't expect this a converter will provide any sound.

thanks ,but i used hdmi converter to vga cable ,and a notification is also shown on my tv+monitor that "Samsung sound is connected"
