Microsoft is holding an early premiere of its new Surface Pro tablet at Best Buy in New York City.
The official launch for the new device is February 9th for the public but for select guests on February 8th, Microsoft is hosting a private reception in the evening and these guests will be able to purchase a Surface Pro around midnight. Among staff who will be in attendance are members of the Windows team and Microsoft's general manager of the Surface team, Panos Panay.
The Surface Pro will be sold in the United States and Canada and will be available for purchase in select places including Staples, Best Buy and Microsoft stores. This slick new device resembles its sister named Surface RT but has a few key differences. Microsoft is wanting to market The Surface Pro as more of a laptop than a tablet. Just like laptops, the ultra thin computer is installed with the operating system Windows 8. This is due in part to its inner workings of the Intel Core i5 chip. A user is now able to accomplish work on this tablet/ultrabook. The resolution is said to be much better than the Surface RT as well. This impressive advancement in technology is starting at $899.
