This new app, "Hello Santa," gives children the chance to Skype with none other than Santa Claus, for a small fee of course.
All calls made with "Hello Santa" will connect you to a real-life Santa Claus on the other end of the video call. Just like visiting Santa at the mall, children will be able to interact with Santa. Unlike the mall, there is no insanely long line to wait in for a mere five minute visit with Saint Nick; "Hello Santa" calls have no time limits. You can schedule your Skype call in advance, even outside of the app's regular scheduled hours which are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Pacific. If you schedule your appointment with Santa beforehand, you can provide information about your child such as name, age, etc. so Santa can personalize the call for your young one. Now even busy parents can make time for their kids to have a visit with Father Christmas.
The app was created by "Make Believe Labs" which plans on using the same technology to reach other famous, previously unreachable characters like perhaps the Easter Bunny or Tooth Fairy. CEO Dorian Collier explained what prompted him to make this app: "My son is used to using FaceTime with family, and a few months ago he asked 'Daddy, can I call Santa?' After not finding a good company offering this service at scale, we decided to jump in with both feet." Each call on "Hello Santa" costs $14.99, a little over £10, and can be made over iPhone, iPad, Mac, or PC at this time. These calls will be recorded for your personal use and can be shared with friends and family.
