On Monday, Huawei unveiled the Ascend P7 Arsenal Edition smartphone, just in time for the upcoming football (or soccer) season.
This limited edition smartphone comes jam-packed with exclusive Arsenal Football Club features including pre-loaded football apps, games, and the club's crest emblazoned on the back of the phone. Huawei has been an official sponsor of London's Arsenal Football Club for some time though this is the first special edition smartphone from the partnership. "We are two powerful brands and this makes Huawei a great match for a club with the global stature of Arsenal," said Richard Ren, President, Huawei Consumer Business Group, Western European Region. "We are enjoying a really successful first six months as Arsenal's Official Smartphone Partner and are excited to announce the exclusive Arsenal smartphone in time for the new Barclay's Premier League season."
The special edition smartphone shares the same hardware as the standard Ascend P7, which has been on the market for a few months. This means the smartphone features a 5 inch full HD display, 1.8 GHz quad-core CPU with 2GB or RAM, 16GB of storage, and runs the latest Android 4.4 KitKat OS. The special edition Ascend P7 smartphone also features the same 13 megapixel rear camera and 8 megapixel front-facing camera as the standard phone and is encased in Gorilla Glass 3 on the front and back of the device. Arsenal themes have been worked into the Huawei Emotion 3.0 user interface. Pricing and availability of the Ascend P7 Arsenal Edition have not been disclosed at this time though the smartphone is expected to hit the market prior to the start of the Premier League on August 16.
