On Sunday, HTC announced that it opened pre-orders for its new VR headset and unveiled international pricing.
"Pre-orders for the Vive virtual reality system open on February 29th at 10 a.m. Eastern time. The Vive will cost $799 USD and orders will be limited to one unit per customer," said HTC on the Vive blog. In Europe, the HTC Vive will be priced at €899 and it costs £689 in the UK. The VR headset comes bundled with two wand controllers, Vive's laser tracking system, and for a limited time, the pre-order bundle will include Google's Tilt Brush 3D painting tool. Tilt Brush allows users to paint in the air around them using Vive to create 3D masterpieces. Google is planning to launch a Tilt Brush Gallery app where users can share their creations.
In addition to the Tilt Brush bundle, HTC is offering two other games with its VR system for a limited time: Job Simulator and Fantastic Contraption. Job Simulator, which will also be available on the Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR, takes place in a robot-controlled world in 2050 where human jobs have been rendered obsolete. The other game, Fantastic Contraption, is a colorful interactive puzzle game that has users building mechanical objects. "But it's not just about gaming," said HTC on the VR system. "In addition to these launch titles, HTC is working with developers to foster the creation of content that spans multiple sectors including entertainment, retail, education, design, healthcare and automotive that will ultimately transform people's lives."
