On Tuesday, Pebble announced new prices for its popular smartwatches, making temporary price cuts permanent.
"Consistently improving the Pebble experience over time is what makes us tick. Our unique approach to technology comes to life with every new feature, update, and delighted user. Driven by the pursuit of awesome, we work 24-7 to keep the Pebble community happy, healthy, and growing," said Pebble in an official blog post. "Today, we're celebrating the success of Pebble Health and the Time-series watches it works with." With this change, the Pebble Time is priced at $149.00 and the Pebble Time Round $199.99. "Our friends in the EU and UK will notice the biggest pricing improvements. Based on your desire to see all Pebble watches align more closely with our US pricing, we worked hard to make it happen," added Pebble. The Pebble Time is now £150 and the Pebble Time Round is available for £180. These new prices did not affect the Time Steel, which is available for $249 or £200. If you purchased a Pebble Time or Time Round smartwatch on or after January 21, Pebble will refund the price difference. To get this refund, contact Pebble before April 1, 2016.
The new pricing makes the Time smartwatches more competitive with other, more affordable smartwatches and fitness trackers but that may not be the only reason for the change. The price drop could mean that Pebble is preparing to launch a new model and is working to clear its inventory ahead of the announcement. The company did not reveal any information on an upcoming device at this time.
