Sony has announced a new addition to its camera-focused Xperia X series with the selfie-focused Xperia XA Ultra.
(CCM) — On Tuesday, Sony Mobile unveiled the new smartphone, which it is marketing as the "perfect nighttime selfie" phone with its impressive 16-megapixel front-facing camera. The selfie camera features Sony's proprietary low-light sensors and camera technology to "achieve sharp, bright, blur-free shots every time." Sony has even included a smart selfie flash "to naturally illuminate your face" and Optical Image Stabilization to counter hand shaking for photos and video. To make selfies easier to take, the smartphone features a Hand Shutter feature which allows users to raise their hand to start a shutter countdown.
While the selfie camera is the highlight of the Xperia XA Ultra, the smartphone is packed with other features. The Xperia XA Ultra includes a borderless 6-inch Full HD display with curved glass, a 21.5-megapixel rear camera with Hybrid autofocus and quick launch and capture, and an impressive 2-day battery life on a single charge. The smartphone can be charged with the Quick Charger UCH12, offering up to 5.5 hours of battery from a 10-minute charge. The Quick Charger UCH12 is available as an optional accessory. The smartphone will be available starting in July in select markets, and will come in Graphite Black, White, and Lime Gold. Sony will also offer a number of "stylish covers" for the smartphone, including the Style Cover Flip, which comes in the same colors. Sony has yet to reveal pricing for the Xperia XA Ultra.
