(CCM) — OnePlus has decided to sell the first 1,000 units of its latest smartphone, the OnePlus 3, in a flash sale even before the device's official launch. The event will take place on June 15; it will be done virtually and with the help of an Android app called The Loop. The company has fixed the sale price at 2,999 CNY (roughly 456.80 USD) and has disclosed that the actual price of the OnePlus 3 will only be unveiled for the phone's official launch. According to an NDTV report, if the price turns out to be lower than 2,999 CNY, the difference in price will be paid to those who made purchases during the sale. If the inverse is the case and the price is higher than the flash sale amount, buyers will have to add on the difference. Customers can also opt out of the deal if they do not like the smartphone after the official launch.
According to a leak on mobipicker, an unaffiliated online store, the OnePlus 3 may come with a choice of either 4 or 6 GB of RAM. In addition, customers may be able to choose between either 32 or 64 GB of built-in memory. The OnePlus 3 could be priced between 2,299 CNY (roughly 350.30 USD) and 2,799 CNY (roughly 426.40 USD). It will also include a 5.5-inch screen, Snapdragon 820 SoC, and both 16-megapixel rear and 8-megapixel front cameras. The OnePlus 3 will run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow-based OxygenOS.
OnePlus has already started to release teasers of the OnePlus 3. The company has also ditched its famous invite-only platform and has, instead, embraced a more open approach for the OnePlus 3 launch. Anticipating high sales, the company has made 1 million units of the smartphone.
