German lensmaker Zeiss has produced a series of high quality photographic lenses for the latest iPhones.
(CCM) — iPhone users can now take photographs on their smartphones using aspherical lens technology previously only found on high-end digital cameras. Zeiss, the world famous German optics maker, has teamed up with ExoLens to produce a range of three lenses which attach to the iPhone 6, 6S, 6 Plus, and 6S Plus. The range consists of a wide-angle lens for landscapes, architectural, and creative photography; a macro lens for close-up shots; and a telephoto lens for taking pictures of objects at a distance. The wide-angle lens can also be used for recording 4K video on an iPhone with a wider shot than is possible using the built-in camera lens. All three lenses have an antireflective coating from Zeiss which minimizes reflections at the glass-to-air surfaces and improves the transmission of light, the company says.
The three lenses can be attached to an iPhone using an aluminum bracket that includes an integrated standard tripod mount and a cold shoe mount to provide compatibility with accessories such as microphones and external video lights. Each lens is also supplied with a lens hood, pouch, and carrying case. The wide-angle lens kit is available now at Apple Stores and online, priced at $199, while the macro and telephoto lenses will be available for purchase later this summer.
