An update to WhatsApp will let users share music from their phones or Apple Music with friends, a report says.
(CCM) — WhatsApp is preparing to introduce a new feature that will let users share music with friends who also use the app, according to a report on Macerkopf (in German). Users will be able to share songs stored on their smartphones as well as songs available on Apple Music, if both parties are subscribers to the streaming music service, according to the report. A small music player will appear on the WhatsApp screen, allowing users to play music that has been shared directly from the app. WhatsApp is also believed to be planning the introduction of large emoji similar to the ones that Apple will launch with iOS 10 as well as notices and public groups. The app already allows users to share photos, videos, and links to other media.
Last year the Facebook-owned company introduced WhatsApp calling, enabling users to make free voice calls from the app over a WiFi or data connection. The service is increasing in popularity, and yesterday WhatsApp announced that its users are making more than 100 million voice calls every day — or over 1,100 voice calls every second.
