Super Mario Bros. and Donkey Kong will make a comeback along with a new version of Nintendo's classic NES console.
(CCM) — Nintendo plans to cash in on the wave of nostalgia for old games generated by the success of Pokémon GO by releasing an updated version of its original Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) game console. The NES Classic Edition, announced today, will come with 30 original NES games built in, including three Super Mario Bros. titles, Donkey Kong, PAC-MAN, The Legend of Zelda, and Kirby's Adventure. Unlike the original NES console, the Classic Edition will plug directly into a high-definition television using an HDMI cable. The company says that each game built in to the Classic Edition will have multiple suspend points that do not require passwords so players will be able to take a break at any time and then easily start again where they left off without losing their progress in the game.
The NES Classic Edition will be available from Nov. 11 at a suggested retail price of $59.99, which will include an NES Classic controller that has been designed to resemble the iconic original NES controller. It will also be possible to connect an NES Classic controller to a Nintendo Wii Remote to play Virtual Console NES games on a Wii or Wii U game system. Additional NES Classic controllers will be available and priced at $9.99.
