Straying from tradition, Google has released the final version of Android Nougat for its Nexus smartphone series.
(CCM) — Google has announced in a blog post that it has started a worldwide rollout of Android 7.0 Nougat updates for Nexus smartphone users worldwide. The over-the-air (OTA) update will reach Nexus 5X, 6P, and 9 devices, as well as Pixel C tablet, Nexus Player, and Android One Mobile 4G devices gradually. Additionally, Google has confirmed that LG's V20 smartphone will be the first to be loaded with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. The first update of this cycle — which will be introduced this fall — will be released as a preview version, with the stable version of it coming at some point next year. (As a perk, those who have been using Android 7.0 Nougat Developer Preview Version will receive the update before other Marshmallow users.)
"Android Nougat reflects input from thousands of fans and developers all over the world. There are over 250 major features in Android Nougat," a Google representative said in the blog post. The final version of Android 7.0 Nougat will be loaded with tons of improvements, including multi-window capability, revamped doze, and enhanced notifications. The tech giant also said that it’s would be moving Android to a regular update cycle, which will continue for the next few months.
