(CCM) — Xioami, popularly known as the "Apple of China," has created a new record in India with the shipment of over 880,000 Redmi Note 3 units in the second quarter of 2016 — which is almost double the record of the second-most shipped smartphone on the market. The company also announced that over 1.75 million of the shipped Redmi Note 3 units were sent out within five months of its launch.
Xiaomi has also claimed to have witnessed a 72% growth of total year-over-year sales in the Indian market. (Shipments of tech products by other China-based vendors, including Lenovo, Vivo, Xiaomi, OPPO, and Gionee, grew 28% over the last quarter.) Unveiling the quarterly report, Manu Jain, Xiaomi's Head of Operations in India, said, "It has been extremely encouraging to witness the overwhelming support for [the] Redmi Note 3 in India." Excited by the smartphone's position reception, the company has promised to launch more products in India to sustain the momentum. "Our commitment towards [the Make in India initiative] has further acted as a catalyst in meeting the demand for our popular Redmi series," he added.
