(CCM) — Just a week after the iPhone 7’s official launch in the U.S., Indian users can now pre-order iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus smartphones. For previous launches, hopeful owners had to wait for months to get their hands on the new iPhone devices. But this will be the first time that Apple has decided to begin delivery right after a launch. iWorld and Unicorn, the official sellers of Apple products in northern India, are allowing users to reserve the device, along with another chain, Jumbo, which will begin taking orders starting next week. Another Indian distributor, Beetel Teletech Limited, will start deliveries of the two phones on Oct. 7, while iWorld and Unicorn will begin them at midnight on Oct. 7, which is also the official launch date in India. Interested buyers can pre-order the device by making an advance payment of 5,000 rupees (roughly $90). However, the biggest phone retailers in the country, Tata Croma and Reliance Digital, have yet to make an announcement regarding the sale of iPhones in their stores.
Apple will be launching its devices in India in the third phase of its plan, coming after the first and second phases on Sept. 16 and Sept. 23, respectively. The company unveiled its latest iPhones at an event in San Francisco on Sept. 7. No price details, apart from the starting range of 60,000 rupees (roughly $940), has been revealed for the Indian market. The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus come in 32 GB, 128 GB, and 256 GB storage options. The company has also launched a new Jet Black color variant, alongside its usual silver, gold, rose gold, and black options.
