After being unveiled at Lenovo Tech World 2016, the Moto Z series is all set for launch in India.
(CCM) — Motorola has set an Oct. 4 release date for its Moto Z smartphones series in India. The Lenovo-owned company announced the update on its official Twitter account along with an invitation to media and publishing houses for a launch event. It is not yet clear which smartphone in the series will first be introduced to the Indian market; possible options include the Moto Z, the Moto Z Force, and the Moto Z Play, all of which were announced during Motorola's main launch event in San Francisco a few months back. Lenovo India has also confirmed that the Moto Z with a special snap-on back panel will be launched in the country in October.
Phones in the Moto Z series run on Android's 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system and feature a fingerprint scanner located on the home button. Like Apple with its iPhone 7, Motorola has chosen to ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack in its forthcoming series. The smartphones are powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC coupled with 4 GB of RAM and have both 32 GB and 64 GB built-in memory options, which can be further expanded to up to 2 TB using a microSD card. They also feature a 5.5-inch QHD Amoled display as well as a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front camera, and camera features like optical image stabilisation (OIS) and laser autofocus. In terms of battery power, the phones have a 2600 mAh battery that is charged using a type-C cord, which charges using TurboPower, a feature that powers the phones for up to eight hours after just 15 minutes of charging.
