(CCM) — Indian Railway’s Patna City station topped the list in a study of public WiFi use — ahead of train stations in Jaipur, Bengaluru, and the nation's capital, New Delhi — though most online searches using its Google-supported WiFi hotspot were for porn sites. The Patna station, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Danapur division of the East Central Railway, was the first state facility to have free WiFi. It is also one of the most crowded stations in the state, hosting over 200 trains daily.

According to the state-run company RailTel, people are also using Patna's free WiFi to visit Youtube, followed by Wikipedia. There is also a small percentage of people who download apps as well as both Bollywood and Hollywood films. At present, RailTel provides 1 GB WiFi at the Patna City railway station. However, following complaints about slow internet, the data line may get an upgrade to 10 GB. The free WiFi service was launched at the station in June of this year, along with others 23 others around the country; it is expected to debut at all of the country's major stations in next three years.
