Uber has carried out an analysis of its ride data to pinpoint the top restaurants in 12 U.S. cities.
(CCM) — Uber has departed from its core business of ferrying customers from one place to another and has now produced a standout restaurant guide. Unlike traditional guides, which use food critics' or customers' verdicts on an establishment's fare, the Uber restaurant guide is generated by crunching the data that it collects from the millions of trips that its users make each month — many of which start or end at restaurants and bars. "Some of these restaurants might be top choices for the critics, but our guide also reveals a few places you didn’t expect," the company said in a blog post.
The guide includes a variety of different rankings, including the most popular restaurants (ranked by the highest number of drop-offs,) local favorites (determined by the total number of repeat local visitors), up-and-coming restaurants (which have the greatest increase in drop-offs), and date-night destinations (determined by the number of drop-offs that use an Uber premium option, like UberBLACK). The guide also lists the best weekend restaurants, bars, and clubs ranked by the total number of Uber requests on Friday and Saturday nights. The Uber restaurant guide covers 12 top U.S. cities including Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles, and New York City.
