Amazon has teamed up with Fiat Chrysler to peddle discounted cars online.
(CCM) — On Friday, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles announced that it had joined forces with online retail giant Amazon to begin selling its cars online, according to reports by Reuters. The retailer will initially only offer three Fiat Chrysler models: the Panda, the 500, and the 500L. The option will also only be available to Italian customers for the moment. In addition to the convenience that it will provide to users looking to make big ticket purchases without having to leave their desks, the cars will also be discounted to about a third of their original prices.
"The time has arrived to give consumers a new, more efficient and transparent way to choose a new vehicle," Gianluca Italia, responsible for Fiat Chrysler in Italy, said during an online press conference. Most polled users expressed a desire to keep the dealership experience in the equation. So, after selecting their vehicles, users will be directed by Amazon to dealers where they can finalize their purchases and pick up their cars. Ordered cars are expected to be ready for pickup within two weeks of the initial order.
