Netflix Suffers Twitter Account Hacking

Netflix is the newest victim of widespread social network account breaches by hacking group OurMine.

(CCM) — OurMine, a three-man hacking group, has already successfully taken over the social media profiles of several influencers, including Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg's Twitter and Pinterest account and Google CEO Sundar Pichai's Quora account. And now, it has added Netflix's Twitter account to its ranks. Reuters reports that the group's Wednesday seizure of the online video streaming service's Twitter account lasted at least three hours. During this time, the group sent out derisive messages, many of which had been deleted almost as quickly as they had been put up.

One message reading, "World security is shit. We are here to prove this :)," appeared to hint at OurMine's motivation behind the hacking. This is an idea that has been echoed throughout the team's mostly innocuous previous hacks. In response to the crisis, Netflix's customer service Twitter account tweeted: "We're aware of the situation and are working to get it resolved." The company has yet to confirm that it has regained access to its account, but the hacking tweets all appear to have been removed.
