Mark Zuckerberg has said that he has no plans to run for President of the United States.
(CCM) — Putting a stop to the rumor mill, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg clarified that he has no plans to campaign for a position as the U.S. president. The Facebook CEO said that he would continue to work on the growth of his social media company and Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (or CZI), an organization that reshapes and invests in scientific and leadership research across the globe. His reply came after weeks of speculation in the international press.
"Here's the thing: For Mark, Facebook is global community that already plays this huge part in the lives of billions of people around the world and plays an incredibly important role in shaping the base on the issues that matter," an NDTV report quoting an anonymous source said. However, per the source, Zuckerberg is likely to prepare for a political battle but will do so with a focus on CZI’s goals. According to a CNBC report, Zuckerberg has already roped in Barack Obama’s former-campaign manager, David Plouffe, to head CZI’s policy and advocacy. He has also poached Ken Mehlman, George W. Bush’s former-campaign manager, to fill a similar role.
