(CCM) — Instant messenger application WhatsApp has started testing a new feature that will let its members locate their contacts in real time. Per WABetaInfo, a twitter user famous for leaking information related to WhatsApp, the new feature will be available on the 22.214.171.124 and 2.16.399 beta versions of the Facebook-owned messenger for iOS and Android devices, respectively. One report says that tracking can be kept active for between one and five minutes, with another claiming that there will also be an indefinite tracking mode. The interface will also notify users when their tracked contacts change their locations. The "Live Location Tracking" feature is disabled by default in the beta test version; to use it, users will have to first activate it in their account settings.
WhatsApp recently launched ability to delete and edit sent messages in a beta version. However, users are yet to receive the feature in the main program. It has also launched a video chat feature for Android, iOS, and Windows devices, which has been continually picking up in popularity since its rollout.
