Samsung is responding to Apple's AirPods with its own wireless and noise-cancelling headphones.
(CCM) — Samsung is planning to take advantage of the interest in wireless headphones prompted by Apple's AirPods to launch a set of its own, according to a Tech Times report. The company will release its Level In ANC wireless headphones to coincide with the release of its flagship Galaxy S8. The headphones will feature noise-cancelling technology to reduce background noise similar to that found in Samsung's existing wired Level In ANC product. The company claims this can reduce ambient noise by up to -20 dB.
The new wireless headphones will almost certainly also include Samsung's "Talk-in" feature which allows users to turn off the noise-cancellation. This enables them to hold a conversation with someone without having to remove the in-ear buds, and to carry out activities such as running or cycling more safely by being aware of background noises. According to the Tech Times report, the new wireless headphones will cost about $140, some $19 less than Apple's AirPods, which lack the noise-cancelling functionality. The headphones will reportedly be available in a range of colors including red, green, black, and silver. Samsung's Galaxy S8 phone is rumored to be slated for release in March or April.
