The new 10.5-inch iPad Pro will go into production much sooner than previously thought, according to a report.
(CCM) — Apple has given the green light to an accelerated production schedule for the new 10.5-inch iPad, which will now start being manufactured later this month, according to a report in DigiTimes. Previously, the production timetable was set for May or June, but now Apple is expected to unveil its new iPad model at a launch event in early April. The event will be the first to be held in the theater at Apple's new circular headquarters, nicknamed the "Spaceship," in Cupertino, California.
The new 10.5-inch iPad will be targeted at the business and education sectors. Along with the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, it will be Apple's main mid-tier to high-end tablet offering for 2017. Apple is believed to be planning to produce one million units in March, ramping this up to around 1.2 million units in the following months. However, it is not yet clear when the 12.9-inch variant will go into production, although a report has mooted May or June. Apple has yet to formally announce the April iPad launch event. It remains unknown if Apple plans to launch any other products at the same time.
