Amazon customers can now use the Alexa intelligent assistant to order alcohol and other goods for delivery within two hours.
(CCM) — Amazon Echo, Dot, Tap, Fire Tablet, and FireTV owners can now get their hands on tens of thousands of products within two hours just by asking Amazon's Alexa intelligent assistant to order them using Amazon's Prime Now service. Customers over 21 years of age in Seattle, Columbus and Cincinnati can also order beer and wine for two hour delivery through Alexa. Prime Now is available in more than 30 U.S. cities and once customers have chosen items that exceed a minimum order value, Alexa will automatically choose the next available two hour delivery slot. Alexa will also offer purchase suggestions based on the other items in the current order.
"We’re excited to offer the full Prime Now catalogue with Alexa, including tens of thousands of items, which allows you to refill everyday essentials you’ve just run out of like diapers or dish soap, or even cater to unexpected guests with Merlot and ice cream, all without ever leaving your house or even getting up from the couch," said Assaf Ronen, Amazon's vice president of voice shopping, in an announcement. To shop with Alexa through Prime Now, customers must be Prime members with a default payment and shipping address.
