Three Foxconn employees have spilled the beans about Apple's product roadmap, according to a report.
(CCM) — Huge amounts of confidential information about Apple's future products have been leaked by three employees of Foxconn, a Chinese company that manufactures Apple products, according to a Tech Times report. The three people took part in an "Ask Me Anything" (AMA) session on Reddit last weekend and were confirmed by Reddit moderators as Foxconn employees. However, the veracity of the information they divulged has not been confirmed by Apple.
The three claimed that the new iPhone 8 will be equipped with a fingerprint reader beneath the screen. They also mentioned it will run both face and iris recognition software for authentication. The screen of the new phone will run edge-to-edge on the new device, but will feature cutouts around the display area to house the camera and biometric scanners, according to the report. The Foxconn employees also said that the new iPhone will have 3 GB of RAM. This is just half the RAM of popular Android handsets like the OnePlus Three.
Aside from providing information about the new iPhone, the employees claimed that Apple's mooted augmented reality glasses will very likely be canceled before seeing the light of day. If they do go in to production, they may not be available until 2019. If that is indeed the case, then the employees said that they could be fitted with an accelerometer and a microphone and may cost as much as $600, according to the report.
