Sony has introduced one new virtual reality bundle and cut the cost of its existing one.
(CCM) — Sony is revamping its virtual reality bundle lineup and slashing the cost of its existing one in a bid to drive up sales of its PlayStation VR heaset.
The company has announced a brand new virtual reality bundle which includes the PlayStation VR headset along with the PlayStation Camera, for $399. "This essentially gives you the PlayStation Camera at no extra charge, and will be the core PS VR bundle moving forward," the company said.
The company is also offering the PlayStation VR Worlds bundle, which includes the headset and camera, along with two PlayStation Move motion controllers and the PlayStation VR Worlds game collection, at a new price of $449, $50 lower than the previous price.
The new bundles will be available from retailers from September 1, 2017.
Sony also promised a range of new virtual reality games in the near future, including Elder Scrolls V, Skyrim VR, Doom VFR, Sparc, Bravo Team, and The Inpatient. These will complement existing "marquee" titles such as Farpoint, Batman: Arkham VR, Star Trek: Bridge Crew, and Resident Evil 7 Biohazard.
Sony's soon-to-be released PS4 system software update 5.00 will also include virtual reality-specific enhancements like 5.1ch and 7.1ch virtual surround sound in Cinematic Mode.
